There was no happy ending. There was no fantastic life. Five years after the fact, the Doctor finds a phone box floating in space. The metacrisis isn't the same man they left on that beach in Wales, namely, he's not the Doctor at all, which may explain why he's punching Jack in the face. (strange reunion fic; slightly dark)
