"Cold Promise"
She stood alone in the freezing cold as a light snow began to fall. Alone. The word echoed in her mind. The warmth of friendship had left her now, as had the friends who had shared it. A flat tire had changed her life, whisked her away into a whirlwind of adventure. The whirlwind was over now. The finality was as biting as the wind on her face.
Hours had passed, or was it minutes? Time somehow had a different meaning to her now. She continued to look at the spot where she had last seen him, but knew he wasn’t coming back for her. She was where she belonged. Right? Where he knew she wanted to belong. Where she had fought him to take her. Where she thought she wanted to belong.
