1. Chapter 1 [Reviews - 0] (7362 words)
I rediscovered the TV Story the Awakening and thought Will Chandler deserved some attention, there was mention of him maybe actually joining the Tardis crew behind the scenes as the actor got on so well with everyone. I think Will and the Doctor's dynamic was really quite sweet in the series and it gave Five a chance to be a little more gentle with a companion character. Will, as a historical companion, would have been the first one since Jamie and Victoria's time in the Tardis and they both had a really good relationship with the Doctor. Basically I really like Will and so I re-wrote the awakening from his perspective to flesh out his character a bit and explore the whole 'let's stay in Little Hodcome for a bit' ending of the telly series! I thought I'd share here if anyone was interested because there is NO content for Will whatsoever and I think he deserves a bit of love.

Thank you to everyone who has read this so far, this chapter is based on the second episode of the TV story, with some more embellishments from me!

The Doctor has been threatened by a monster in the wall, Jane and Will are faced with more horrors, Tegan's crowning ceremony awaits and Turlough has gone missing along with Tegan's Grandfather.

The Malus is alive and well in Little Hodcombe and has a plethora of pain to unleash...

3. Chapter 3 [Reviews - 0] (11929 words)
So, I know I said this was a 3-part story, but well, Will and Jane had a lot more to say than I was expecting and it ran away with me somewhat! The whole piece was just short of 16k and I felt that was too much to throw in your face in one go dear reader.

This chapter is very much a getting settled chapter, Will and Jane are very much the primary voices here, the other characters fading to the background for this section but picking up again in the final chapter (and I promise it will be the final chapter this time!).

I hope you enjoy a bit of domestic fluff here, all about finding your feet and finding out that it's okay to feel, reflect and grieve.

4. Chapter 4 [Reviews - 0] (5189 words)
The final chapter for real this time! Thank you so much to everyone who has read this so far, this chapter has a lot more Team Tardis in it, the last one was very much Will and Jane getting to know one another. This chapter is also shamelessly fluffy because I can with a little bit of emotional h/c because I apparently cannot help myself. Sorry!

Thank you so much for reading, I know this is the nicheiest of the obscure Doctor Who characters to really have an over 30k word deep-dive into but I have had an absolutely fantastic time writing this, I've loved having a go at really fleshing out Will's character which I hope stayed true enough to his portrayal on the actual show.

This actually got a lot further away from me then I expected! I didn't think he'd get on that well with Tegan and Turlough but apparently Will decided they were friend-shaped and here we are. I really enjoyed developing his bond with Jane, that was always the plan, but a lot of the rest of the scenes weren't planned and just happened.

I think, from how this has turned out, I'd like to try a few short(!) one-shots of Will and Jane joining the crew and having a few adventures-would anyone be interested in that? I've got a few small ideas to try writing out, I think Five tends to do well with older female companion types (See Jane in the actual TV story and Todd in Kinda) and I think Will has the potential to bring out some softer sides of Tegan and Turlough.

Let me know what you think, if it's not for you then this will be a complete story on it's own!
