Author's Notes:
A first attempt at a fanfic. Unbeta'd. Be kind.

The stars shone through the crisp navy sky. All around Rose were huge snowdrifts and icicles as thick as her arm. She was dressed in the warmest clothes she could find in the wardrobe. She also had searched for a scarf and gloves or a hat but hadn’t find one anywhere. She shivered in the frigid air. “Brrrr.”

He walked up dressed in his usual clothes, with a manic grin, “Bit nippy.”

“Nah, too warm for me,” she replied. Her eyes widen as he pulled from his pocket a long scarf, reminding her of a magician and the handkerchief trick. It took several minutes to get the multi-colored scarf that was at least eighteen feet in length. Rose’s mouth dropped, stunned at the length.

Taking advantage of her momentarily stupor, he wrapped around and around her until she was drowning in it and dizzy from spinning in a circle. It could have been a second coat. “The Old Girl wanted you to wear this.”

“Oh, she did, did she?….” Rose got a good look at the bright colors on the scarf. “Blimy! Did that use to belong to a color-blind elephant!”

“All elephants are colorblind. Pachyderms only have the red and green color sensors. They are missing the blue cones that we have,” He sniffed, “and I’ll have you know that this scarf is the height of fashion in the 1500s. Madame Nostradamus was quite the fashionable lady and a good knitter.”

“Maybe in the dark ages” she laughed “you know, back when there wasn’t any light.”
He rolled his eyes at her snark as she petted the scarf where it draped over her shoulder.

“Madame Nostradamus?” She had to admit that she was warmer, and the scarf was so soft and cuddly.

He nodded and pulled out a matching pair of mittens.

“That old guy who predicted all that stuff like Kennedy being killed and all?”

He nodded again. He carefully put a mitten on her left hand and then her right. “Watch who you’re calling old….”

“Some kinda Invasion or something?”

Shaking his head, he grinned. “Ol’ Mick just liked to star gaze and he might have gotten stuck here and there with a particularly stubborn prediction or two.” A snug wooly hat was pulled over her hair gently.

“So you and Ol’ Mick stood around star gazing and predicting crazy random stuff like when the earth’s gonna end and all that, while his missus kitted you out with a scarf large enough for a family of twenty and matching hat and mittens?”

“Nah…. The Wardrobe found the mittens and hat just for you.” He grinned.

She shook her head at him, but he noticed that she didn’t remove the scarf, mittens, or hat but she did snuggle into the scarf and tugged the hat on more securely. His hearts beat easier knowing he was making sure that his favorite human was warm and cozy as they tromped through the biting snow and ice towards their next adventure, hand in hand.
