Author's Notes:
Written for Challenge 674: Wheel at dw100.

Summary: There’s a certain amount of improvisation involved in keeping an obsolete TARDIS in working condition.

From a distance, it looks impressive, technologically advanced, but when examined more closely, the TARDIS’ control console gives the impression of having been cobbled together from mismatched spare parts.

Surely that screen is from an old television, and there’s a thing around the other side Rose could almost swear is a bicycle pump. The lever to her left could have come off a slot machine, and there’s a sort of wheel that reminds her of the one on her gran’s ancient sewing machine.

The Doctor shrugs. “When parts break down, I just replace them with whatever will do the job.”
