Watching the Doctor bumble about as if he has no idea what he’s doing would be funny, if not for the fact that Amy can’t tell whether or not he’s just pretending.
He does that sometimes, letting people think he’s not as smart as he really is, biding his time and learning as much as he can before pulling off a daring escape, or miraculously fixing a problem. But if he genuinely doesn’t know how to stop this machinery, they’re in serious trouble.
“Doctor?” She’s really getting worried now.
“That should do it!” The crusher grinds to a halt. “See?”
