Lovely and funny and a wee bit heartbreaking.
This was witty, and sad, and ultimately very Romana. I wish, somehow, that some of it had been real canon.
(What, there was a Romanathon and I didn't know about it?)
I liked this; Romana rating universes out of ten (and considering that a trivial exersize), recalling the teachings of her exobiology tutor, that was very her voice.
And Mickey and Jake -- and Pete having a slogan, ha, he would!
(‘On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, how would you rate your desire to perform medical experiments on human beings?’ She circled 6)
That's lovely. I can see a Torchwood put together by Jake and Mickey and Pete Tyler turning out just like that.
A ton of fun! To bad Romana didn't take Mickey with her.
you've written the characters perfectly, and the au-Torchwood is just right. love to find out which universe Romana was in when the breach was closed, and it's cool that she was the one who gave them the universe-hopping technology (though forgetting every protocol when a real alien comes along is so typical!)
Can I take it to mean that Romana left one of her hoppers with Mickey? She used K9's to get out of there so they must have confiscated the one she originally had!
Maybe give Rose a way back ;)
Very nice story!
Oh, lovely :) The Torchwood interrogation routine was classic, and deeply hilarious. So Pete - the mantra, the missing questions, the complete lack of any real idea of what to do next.
And Mickey is wonderful - love the banter between him and Jake, especially about not inviting aliens home to tea with Nan.
I don't remember Romana as well as I should from the classic series - it's been a long time - but this sounds so like her, too, with her sarcasm and impatience with those who just don't understand and never will. Great work!
Brilliant! Gentle parody of Torchwood bureuacracy (which makes a nice change from 'anti-alien' Torchwood) and everyone was perfectly in character. But poor Romana! This deserves much kudos.
This was lovely and I loved Mickey in this LOL
