Just what he needed. And her, really. I loved the look at evetyday life with K-9, and the details on fetes and handkerchief hats, and the IMAGE. (American quite unaquainted with them, here, so looking up pics and imagining Ten was a riot ♡)

Beautiful story! I loved the image of Sarah Jane and Harry scooping up gold and trying to throw it at the Cybermen, but ineffectively because they're from a different universe and presumably don't have the same weakness. And Harry's comment was just very ... Harry. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Great characterisation. The scene was so well-written I could easily picture it all in my mind. Loved the story :)

This was great. From the strange nightmare that shows so much of Sarah Jane's resistance to being old/matronly to her amused acceptance of the Doctor's eccentricities....

I love how she is ready to tear a strip off of the Doctor but he's just glad to see her. Makes me wonder if the Tardis was really broken or if it just decided he needed to see someone familiar so he wouldn't break apart.

The bit about how she'd thought about getting azaleas but never bothered, and how she had to resist the urge to act all paternal toward the Doctor because:

It was his own fault for looking so horribly young.

Really funny. Add that to the Horse Whisperer reference and I was giggling fairly madly.

I liked how you wrote about Sarah and Harry breaking into jewelery shops to try and use gold to stop the Cybermen. That was a neat way of tying the old series into the new without making the reader think to hard or wade through lots of explanatory passages.

The bits where he manages to charm the fearsom Mrs. Whitaker and then attempts to lure Sarah into travelling with him again were slightly heartbreaking. He was only there by accident and like that he's ready to take her with him... when she's been waiting for so long. It's like the OCD thing with the yogurts, really... he doesn't mean to be hurtful, he's just... not quite absent-minded, but doesn't think linearly. Or maybe he's a prick. I don't know. But I was glad when she said no at the end.

When she tells K9 she's feeling well, I don't entirely believe her, but I like to think she's on her way....

A delightful fic, full of elegant little details. K9 offering to defend his mistress from the old folks home, the TARDIS parked in the hypothetical azaleas, the Doctor running off with the sandwich toaster, the bit with the yoghurt (yogurt? I'm american) and the words "Just Married" painted on the TARDIS.

Great lines:
“They’ve got a tombola,” the Doctor said happily. “I love tombolas.”

“Yes,” Sarah sighed, “I had a horrible feeling you would.”

And of course:
“I don’t go in for all that lying about your age.” He stretched his hands behind his head. “Just start going backwards once you hit the big thousand. That’s not lying, that’s just creative maths.”

And inside it all you managed to get some real emotional truth The bit where Sarah starts telling the Doctor about the Cybermen was something I could identify with. Obviously not being chased by Cybermen, but when you get caught up in something frightening and dangerous but you make it out okay, and weeks or months later it turns out to be funny in some weird way that is wasn't at the time, is very true.

So to make a long review short, excellent fic.

Wonderful story. You've written Sarah Jane perfectly; older, practical, slightly bitter but still sweet. I also like the way she's figuring out this 'real life' business; not quite settled, but she's trying. Good for her :) The Doctor was written very well, too - his mannerisms, speech, what he didn't say, it's all spot on. A satisfying story with exellent, rounded characters.

I think the phrase is "fantastic"! ;) Very well done - I liked the dry humour you put through it all.

Excellent fic. I like the visits with SJS. I just wish she'd go off with him again!

Very lovely Sarah Jane and K-9. I can’t see how SJ can resist travels with the Doctor. Nice details and dialog!

This was really good. Great Sarah-Jane and K9 and how very like the Doctor to be riffling through the fridge!

That worked really well, your Sarah Jane Smith was particularly good. Nice work :)

This was wonderful! Loved the knotted handkerchief LOL Can remember my Dad doing that exact same thing when I was a tot and feeling very embarrassed about it too!
