So glad this got recc-ed because it is brilliant. All of the glimpses of Liz Shaw across her life. I can't pick a favorite. But the reason for leaving UNIT, and the subtle-but-not sexism of the time, and her staring down alien Quill and taking her to the task of living up to her own face... just awesome.
Also, differential equations are indeed beautiful. At least, I remember thinking so when I took the class but it was a long time ago.
Author's Response: Thank you -- I'm so glad you liked it! I can't say I share your assessment of differential equations, which I took one and a half times, but this is why you have math degrees, and I have a writing one ;)
This is fantastically written!
Author's Response: Thank you very much!
This was delightful. I particularly liked the last section, on living up to the face you adopt; Liz is so right about the pedigree of her one, and it's certainly one that Twelve (who wears the face of Caecilius) would share.
Author's Response: Thank you! Once I decided I had to put Miss Quill in a Liz Shaw fic, there was no way I couldn't address living up to having such a similar face.
Excellent. I'm not sure which section I like the best; it's all pretty great - maybe the leaving UNIT one.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm especially glad you liked that section; it was the last one I wrote, because it was the trickiest one for me to get a handle on.
