That gave me goosebumps! He most definitely didn't want to go. He'd had a revelation. This life really had been wonderful and there were so many more possibilities. But it was too late to go back.
Author's Response: Yup... and he knew that Rose was rather fond of that face and body. But, there you go; missed opportunities again.
I never understood why he didn't want to go, and this makes perfect sense. He seemed so ready, so weary and just DONE... I like your explanation.
Author's Response: He did seem soul-weary, didn\'t he? Particularly after WoM, he seemed to think he\'d lived too long and was resigned to death just before rescuing Wilf in TSE. But I think seeing Rose on New Year\'s may have revigorated his will to live. He saved her for last, because he wanted the last face he saw as Ten to be hers. And that\'s why I think he didn\'t really want to go. The actual feeling congealed in my head today, so out came the drabble.
Gorgeous! Perfect follow up to your first drabble.
Author's Response: Thanks, KK! Not quite sure where that came from, but it was all over me while I was trying to eat my lunch. ;-)
