i really liked this! So gentle and loving. Would love to find out what the doctor decides.
Author's Response: Thank you. :-) And I hope to wedge some time into my schedule to write at least one of the follow-up fics before the end of the year. I don\'t know how it got to be a year since I posted this in the first place--it\'s just been so busy, everything else has taken a backseat. Even fic.
Love this so much!
Author's Response: Thank you!
Gorgeous, sweetie. Your Rory voice is absolutely perfect! This was filled with so, so much, even as he could only recall (would only recall) those things he deemed most important. Beautiful...thank you.
Author's Response: Thank you! I was amazed at how strongly he spoke to me, and how easily this fell together once I finally understood what Rory would remember after 2000 years.
I love this characterization of Rory and Amy's relationship and the idea of her asking him about things that happened during the 2,000 years. Especially while they're in bed, that just seems so Amy. And the characterizations in the final scene are delicious. Thanks!
Author's Response: Thank you for the thoughtful review! I\'m always glad to see people enjoying this one. :-)
This is marvelous, and I've promptly favorited it, because I don't believe many writers have made a Rory as believable as this triple-memoried Rory. Nor have many made the relationship between Amy and Rory so strong and wonderful. Also, I am in awe of your history-fu, andgleeful at the fact that you've addressed issues I've always thought about in terms of Plastic Rory: (such as the fact that when he thought he was a Roman, he must have eaten and ... ahem ... expelled like everyone around him, or he'd have thought himself a freak. Worse, everyone else would have thought he was, and he'd have ended up dead.) Anyhow, for writerly, readerly and DW-geekerish reasons, this story is wonderful. Thank you so much for writing it!
Author's Response: Thank you for my new favorite review! *g* I\'m so glad the history worked for you--I had so much fun researching and writing it, I was a little worried maybe I\'d overdone it. But I so much wanted to examine those 2000 years, and by having Rory set just a little outside of everyone else by virtue of being plastic, his perspective just became more engaging, somehow.
This was lovely. Two of my favorite moments....Amy's "I get off on a lot of things, most of them you." and Rory, telling the Doctor, "Love comes in lots of flavours." What a tender, gently fic, and it said so much.
Author's Response: Thank you! Getting it to that place of gentleness is part of what took me so long trying to put this one together. And I\'m glad you liked Amy\'s line there--it amused me greatly. :-)
I love Rory. A lot. He's pretty much the only reason I watch anymore. Which is why I love this story. A lot. You've captured those 2000 years perfectly and with so few words. Nicely done.
Thanks for writing! :)
Author's Response: Thank you. :-) I\'m a great fan of Rory.
Oh, now you've got me hooked and I desperately want to see what happens next... write more, please! :D
Author's Response: Delighted to hear it. This is the core story for a handful of little character moments I\'ve wanted to do for awhile. They\'ll be coming along as fast as my free time permits. :-)
Author's Response: Thank you! I\'d been working on this one for a year, and had to rob piece of about three separate Rory things to get it to come together, at which point, it promptly ate my brain.
What a gorgeous story. Will there be more? I am so, so curious as to what the Doctor decides!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! There certainly will. This is the core story for a number of character moments I\'ve wanted to write for awhile. You will definitely find out what the Doctor decides.
