You presented Spencer so beautifully in this, and the story is just as sad and convoluted as he is. I confess, I didn't recognize Susan as tall and red-haired - until I realized she must have regenerated. And then I thought of what she must have gone through. You were extremely perceptive to put these two together. Really good work!
Having just read an interview with the actor who stars as the quirkily brilliant Dr. Spencer Reid in the local TV Guide, I can just visualise Matthew Gray Gubler and Carole Anne Ford interacting together. A lovely sentimental little literary concoction, although I would have admittedly enjoyed a potential sequence where the relatively disbelieving Spencer actually viewed both the miniscule interior and transdimensional exterior of Susan's time machine.
Oh. I'd like to think that he's just not tall enough yet, and she'll be back eventually. This was a sweet story. Thanks for sharing it.
Here from the rec on Calufrax. Awwww! :D
This was beautiful and sad and joyous and haunting all at once. I love the idea of Susan inheriting the TARDIS - and the way her visits were out of order. I have heard of Spencer (though I've never seen the show) and it sounds here like he needed an imaginary friend. Glad he had her...
This was lovely. There's too little Susan-fic out there. I liked the hint that this takes place after the Doctor is dead and that Susan has inherited the TARDIS. I also liked the line about David, which, to me, seemed to indicate that Susan's innate alieness was ultimately incompatible with David's ''humaness''.
Just to let you know I recced this on Calufrax: http://calufrax.livejournal.com/535068.html :)
Oh my, what a marvellous crossover! Fun and mysterious and just right for both shows. Marvellous :)
I really don't read a lot of crossover fic. For the same reason that I don't let the foods on my plate touch each other. Which, now that I read that, sounds just a little nuts.
My point is that this was brilliant! Spencer Reid is such a brilliant character on a mostly brilliant show, and he would be the sort of person a Time Lord (or a Time Lord's granddaughter) would find intriguing.
Wherever in your brain that came from, I hope there's more... :)
