Wow, this is superb! You really perfectly crafted the tone of this story - Romana particularly sounded absolutely like she did back in the Douglas Adams days. Not only that but you merged that perfectly with River and 11's voices, and had a cool plot, and created a great relationship between the three of them. The banter about punting and snobbery was perfect and so delightful. But then you also pull (and nail) some really scary stuff- The way you describe the TARDIS potentially dying is absolutely chilling. This is just all round Made of Win. Thank you so much for writing
Belatedly here from the crack_van rec. Great story, I love the scenes with Romana and River!! But also the contemplative moments at the start.
" 'First one to find something should make some sort of screaming noise as they die,' said the Doctor."
Your dialogue is phenomenal. There are dozens of lines I could quote, but that one makes me giggle everytime. That, and "Punting."
Funny funny funny - ooh a bit heartbreaking - and then funny again.
Wow - Romana and River make a great combination! Love to read more.
That was fantastic - Romana and Eight have always been a fav pair of mine after Shada, Neverland and Zagreus - but you have made Romana and Eleven a perfect fit. I think you have Lalla Ward's dry humour down perfectly, and this story was filled with wonderful moments - especially when River comes into the fray as well. My fav would have to be the "emotional parting". This story is absolutely brilliant - not just for bringing back Romana, but for the humour, oddness and fun. Loved it. Hope you write more Doctor/Romana/River. It all worked so well! You treating the TARDIS like a character and not a set was just the cherry on the cake. Cheers, Jamie.
