dbskyler randomly recommended this on her LJ, and I'm glad she did as I'd probably not have read it otherwise (seem to have got out of the habit of reading DW fanfic after 10's demise).
I really enjoyed it - you've got 11's and River's voices down very well, and it's always fun when she teases him. It was poignant, too, that Amy doesn't know that he was talking to Hologram!River.
Author's Response: I\'m so happy that you enjoyed reading this. I\'m especially glad that you thought I did well with 11 and River\'s voices. This was my first fic writing those characters and so I put a lot of concentrated effort into trying to get it right. It\'s so nice to hear that you got the emotion I was trying to put into Amy\'s assumption that she had heard a different River laughing with him. I found the idea that she wouldn\'t have been able to tell the difference between dead!River and alive!River disconcerting on an emotional level for the characters, but I wasn\'t sure whether I translated that correctly in Amy\'s presumptions. Thanks so much for leaving me a review with your thoughts. It always means a great deal to me. Also, thank you for letting me know it was recommended to you. That\'s always such a huge compliment. -Muse
A really interesting story and I think you have done the tightrope-esque nature of their "don't ask don't tell" relationship justice. I also enjoyed the more amusing and flustery parts of this story. Cheers, James
Author's Response: \"Don\'t ask, Don\'t tell\" for River and Eleven! LOL! Never heard it described that way but now will always think that. I\'m very happy that you enjoyed my story and believe I did their relationship justice. Thanks so much for leaving me a review. I appreciate it a lot. -Muse
Blimey, you have a gift for storytelling!
I've read very few fanfics, which depict River and the Doctor so accurately. Every line of dialouge is believable, and i can picture the scene so clearly in my mind!
I particularly loved that last line - i was so engrossed in the story and the complicated relationship between River and the Doctor, that i almost forgot her character was dead in his eyes!
And it's weird, as i've just read an interview with Matt Smith (referring to the Time Of Angels two-parter) where he defends his character's coldness towards River at the beginning of the episode, as it must be so painful and confusing for the Doctor to talk to someone who has yet to die in his timestream.
And you captured that moment beautifully.
Author's Response: Wow, your review really helped me smile on what was a day that wouldn\'t end. I am so happy that you believed my characterization. That\'s always the part I\'m most concerned about. So I\'m just thrilled that you believed in that. I think I might try to find that interview with MS. I haven\'t come across it before. I think I agree with the choice of the show not to have the Doctor just run into River\'s arms the next time he meets her. Their relationship is complicated and scary for him. I could get easily side-tracked talking about that, so I\'ll cut myself off now. Thank you so very much for leaving me a review. It means a lot to me. -Muse
Wow. There is so much in this story, I immediately want to go back and read it again. I love how you've characterized River here, and the way you showed the Doctor/River relationship. Marvelous work.
Author's Response: Yay! I\'m glad you like my story so much that you want to go back and read it again. And I\'m so happy you like my characterization. That\'s always the bit I put the most work into and am most concerned about getting right. Thanks so much for leaving me a review. I really appreciate each one. -Muse
Wonderful story! To see the Doctor (in any incarnation!) flustered by the women in his life is always a treat. More lovely is how fluster-able Eleven is, and how damned good River is at doing it.
Well done! :D
Author's Response: I\'m so happy you liked my story. I agree in that I really like Eleven\'s fluster-ability. And I particularly like it with River. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave me a review. I really appreciate it. -Muse
