COby has eased Jack's fears, but I have a feeling there is more to it than they can see....
Author's Response: There is definitely more to it. The Doctor has lied about the ribs on the skeleton and Jack\'s reassurances there are false. The Doctor feels guilty about lying about it, but relieved that Jack feels better about it. With regards the leg Coby is just being sensible and hopefully it will be okay when the time comes.
The Doctor really cares for Coby, he is like a farther to him, even if he don't want to think he is...
Author's Response: The paternal bond means he feels like his father and Coby feels like he is his father, it is just the practicalities of it which are difficult because they\'re not father and son. They are still trying to build their relationship and find out what it is so Coby getting hurt has upset the Doctor more than it probably should have.
Poor Coby, he ended up hurt. Jack was a little hard on jack, and good thing martha is talking sense into him...
Author's Response: Just as Jack is focusing his fears on the Doctor and panicking, the Doctor is focusing his on Jack and getting angry. Martha will sort them both out.
He would get to racing and hurt himself, and his legt...oh, no...
Author's Response: He can\'t resist a race.
They all are having a good time, even though at first the DOctor did not want to play...
Author's Response: It was good for all of them I think just to relax and get on together.
Poor Doctor, he is so worried and hates that everyone is so scared of what may happen, including him.
Author's Response: It is difficult for him, but it is difficult for everyone else as well. He just wants things to go back to normal, but I am not sure they can, can they?
Smart fellow, that Coby...
Author's Response: He is good to have around.
Shouldn't Martha have checked out the Doctor's head injury by now??
Author's Response: Ooops lol... it\'s fine... tiny little cut and no concussion or treatment required.
Drayton, very nasty piece of work. I was worried the Doctor was going to get his head bashed in...
Author's Response: They both had a lucky escape this time.
jack should have took backup, this is not good for him, especially since Drayton wants to practice...
Author's Response: I\'m not sure there was a reason for back up on the face of it, but Drayton is a bit of a fracture freak.
You tell him, Martha! That was very harsh of the Doctor.
Author's Response: I think the Doctor is struggling with balancing a bond with Jack and a paternal bond with Coby, and Jack who is normally quite blase about the Doctor getting knocked about (unless he is on death\'s door) is putting everything the Doctor is feeling out of perspective as well.
I love how you've written the characters so much. I don't know why but I teared up at the simplicity of the last few lines as they leave hand in hand. They love each other so much but it's a heartbreaking action as well. Loving this story.
Author's Response: Hopefully the little things will be enough to stop the stresses of the big things blowing their relationship apart. Glad that you\'re still enjoying the story.
Coby may not be the Doctor's biological son, but he sure takes after him to a point. I liked how he talked to Jack and calmed him some.
Author's Response: The influence of the paternal bond on Coby is just enough to see a bit of the Doctor in him every now and then... he is also completely different sometimes... and that will become more evident as well. They are still trying to get to know each other and figure out where they stand... being a bit polite and wanting to please each other... he\'s got a good head on his shoulders though and although Jack\'s reassurance about the skeleton is based on the Doctor\'s lie, Coby\'s reassurance about the leg break is sound.
Hmmm...I have an idea of where the skeleton came from but I'll wait to see if I'm right. As for Coby, I really like him.
Author's Response: What is your idea lol... I wont tell you if you\'re right or not, but interested to know how predictable I am becoming lol. Coby is an interesting addition to their little family group.
Poor Coby. But I see the Doctor's point. Jack is over reacting to everytime the Doctor gets hurt. Who knows when he will break his leg but he makes it worse by panicking.
Author's Response: It is difficult isn\'t it? They know it is going to happen but not when and I think the Doctor is just ultra protective of Coby too. I am not sure he\'d have been so angry with Jack if it had been one of the others, which is likely down to the paternal bond.
