I don't remember if I read these on LJ... But they're fantastic. Great character studies. The comparison between Jackie and Rose is particularly apt.
Author's Response: Thank you! :)
Interesting. I hadn't thought of that possibility. But it does make a lot of sense. Not only because of Jack as a role model, but because Rose is Jackie's daughter. And isn't this pretty much what Jackie did after she lost Pete? Putting him on a pedestal and then having lots and lots of boyfriends and no one ever measured up. I'd think she actually would be understanding about Rose's behaviour, even if she doesn't get the "needing a living body to hold at the end of the day" issue. Though she might, seeing as Pete works for Torchwood, too.
Author's Response: Hmm. I hadn\'t thought about it from that angle. Thanks for the input--I\'ll throw it in with the rest that\'s stewing in my head. I\'ve been kicking this around all day, and so far, Mickey and Pete have things to say about Rose\'s adjusting to life without hope of the Doctor, but Jackie\'s been decidedly silent. Maybe this is why. Perhaps I should offer her a cuppa and see what she tells me over it.
Very interesting. I can easily see Rose turning into someone like Jack. She is, as the Doctor is so fond of saying, brilliant, and she has a tremendous capacity for love. Knowing the risks she would be taking with her universe's Torchwood, she would naturally be reluctant to be too become too attached to one person, but she would still need an outlet for all that love.
If you were to continue this, I would like to see what Jackie knows of her love life and what she thinks of Rose sleeping with so many different people. I imagine she might have something to say about it.
Author's Response: Now there\'s a direction I hadn\'t considered. You make an excellent point. I\'ll have to give it some thought.
Ooh, I like this. Are you going to continue it? Please?
Author's Response: At some point, it probably feeds into a reunion fic. I\'ve got so many things going at the same time right now, I don\'t know when that\'ll be. Then again, I wasn\'t expecting this at all, either--if Rose starts talking to me, any continuation will be sooner than expected. She\'s durned insistant.
