I very, very much like the introspection. Midnight was such an intense episode for the Doctor.
Oh, wow. This was absolutely gorgeous.
That's really lovely. Very evocative and a nice introspection that feels very in character. I particularly loved the Doctor's fear that the creature chose him because of the depth of darkness in his soul and the way at the end he shrugged off medical help and any apology and just walked away, choosing not to use his words on them. Pitch perfect. :)

Like so much light in the dark, his name had power.
Oh, that is an intriguing thought. And it definitely seems to fit not just the longer history of Doctor Who, but this season's hints about his name. ("Your real name is hidden. It burns in the stars in the Cascade of Medusa" in "Fires of Pompeii" and River Song whispering the Doctor's name in his ear and how absolutely floored he was that she would know it.)
There was a medical team waiting at the Leisure Palace but he shrugged them off, looked no one in the eye, not even Dee Dee, who in the end had understood, and who he liked despite it all. He couldnít bring himself to be kind. He didnít have the energy for reproach. So he turned and walked off, and gave no words away.
Absolutely spot on. And I love the way that you worded the end of that last sentence: "and gave no words away"
Author's Response: Thank you! I\'m very intrigued by all the hinting around about the Doctor\'s name this series--my fanon on this episode is that the alien was exerting at least some control on the humans in the ship to try to get at the Doctor\'s name, too. Thanks so much for the review!
Beautifully written. And I like your addition of the creature seeking the Doctor's name.
