I quite like this! It's lovely and full of the things I do so hope we will get to see in River and the Doctor quite a bit of each saving the other and your word choice is haunting on the verge of sorrow but never really reaching it. resigned, perhaps? But not quite, almost a nostalgia for things that haven't happened, and sadly, now, won't. Excellent.

Author's Response: Thank you! I wanted this to be sad but not maudlin, so I\'m glad that this struck you the way it did. Apologies for not responding sooner. I seem to have been neglecting my Teaspoon account. :P

I like this one too! You paint a beautiful picture of their last time together before the library.

Author's Response: Thank you!

Short and sweet. Not bittersweet, but perhaps the salt of tears changing the taste. I thought one of your strongest paragraphs was this one: She bent and kissed his mouth and lingered there for a moment, breathing in the scent of him, sharp and clean with a hint of applegrass, of soil and metal and sky and a thousand suns, of everywhere he had ever taken her. I particularly liked "soil and metal and sky and a thousand suns." The final sentence was strong and right, just like River was. (One quick editing question: is the second sentence in the third paragraph missing a comma, or an "and"?)

Author's Response: Oh, thank you, and I\'m glad you liked that paragraph! It\'s one of my favorites in this little fic. I\'m glad you noticed the last line, too--River knows exactly what she has to do, and she\'s not going to succumb to hysterics. She\'ll be strong no matter how much it hurts. (Thanks for catching that typo! It\'s fixed now. :P)
