32: Chapter 31

Beautiful. Took me a while to leave a comment because I went back and read the whole thing again. On one hand, I truly love this. (Reads like something China Mieville would write.) On the other hand, I'm not going to be wearing silk any time soon. (*tiny discreet shudder*)

Eleven years: that's determination. 8) Thanks for this, it's much appreciated. (hug)

Author's Response: I'm so glad that you liked this; it means a great deal to me that it was of sufficient quality to do that. Your comment about China Mieville is high praise indeed. (And remember that, in the end, they were able to re-genegineer silk so that it was beautiful and not dangerous at all!) Thank you again for reading and for being my inspiration. And thanks for the hug!

1: Prologue

When I discovered Teaspoon, and fell on its contents like a woman possessed, I found this story. Read what had been written at that point - this was a few years ago - and faved it immediately.

But never reviewed it. I'm sorry for that. I don't know why I didn't... it may have been during a lull in your posting and I might have thought it was like any of the brilliant, but unfinished, WIP's that exist here.

Whatever. I'm going to rectify it now.

One of the joys of sci-fi, in general, is world building. And you have built a world that is equal parts comfortably familiar and distinctly alien. Well done. Very well done, indeed.

Your characters - the ones we know and the ones we don't - are authentic in their voices and motivations and, in the case of the ones we know, perfectly in synch with each other - just like we would expect them to be. (And remind me of why I will always wish we'd had a full season of Team TARDIS - Nine, Rose, and Jack!)

And the story... is just brilliant! You could take the story - oppression, rebellion, a society in the thrall of drugs, corruption - and make it work in any setting. Sci-fi, not sci-fi... it's that universal. It's utterly believable.

So, another fan, eagerly waiting for another installment!

Author's Response: Thanks for your remarkably kind words. I've always loved world-building, and I've come to think of Lizhbau as a real place; I hope it feels that way to every reader. (And, like you, I wish we'd had at least one more season of Team TARDIS.) Thanks again for reading, and commenting!

26: Chapter 25

Just reread what you've written thus far because it is so, so lovely still! I hope to see it finished one day -- you are such a good writer.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm still working on this story; I won't give up on it. But I acknowledge, and apologize for, my incredible slowness.

1: Prologue

I just found this story, and as soon as I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I'm so glad you've stayed with it so far! I hope you post the next chapter soon.

Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words; I will do my best to post a new chapter before the heat death of the universe, but this is a story that's been eight years in the making so I can't, in all honesty, tell you that the next chapter is immanent. (And yes, I'm less than happy with myself because of that!)

25: Chapter 24

It is astonishing to me that you started this story nearly 8 years ago! I, of one, am glad that you haven't given up as this is a lovely story!

Author's Response: Believe me, I\'m equally astonished, not to mention chagrined at my glacial pace. But I have no intention of leaving it uncompleted and, for the first time, I believe I can see the end from here. Thank you so much for being patient when you had no reason to be.

1: Prologue

I just wanted you to know that I have started to read this... but I need to get some sleep... I have put your tale in my favourites and will continue tomorrow. Am very excited to see such a long running tale continued. And it is Rose and Nine... happy sighs... Looking forward to continuing reading this!

Author's Response: Thank you so much - I hope to continue this through to the end, and I hope you like it all the way through!

24: Chapter 23

I see you've been practicing the art of the cliffhanger. Again. headdesk*

Author's Response: It probably comes as no surprise to you by this time, but I don\'t think I know how to end chapters any other way. And that\'s a failure on my part as a writer.

2014.04.28 - 03:02PM
23: Chapter 22

Those poor girls. *sniff*

Author's Response: They are fighting right down to the last moment, but it\'s a tough fight, with pretty overwhelming odds. Thanks for reading.

23: Chapter 22

Woot for updates! The whole Luisa/Filomena thing tears me apart. I hope one of them makes it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for updating!

Author's Response: It was my pleasure to update; I\'ll be working hard on the next chapter. And yes, Luisa\'s and Filomena\'s story is a brutal one, perhaps more brutal than I originally thought it would be. But, like so many of the people who get caught up in the Doctor\'s wake, they\'re brave.

22: Chapter 21

I had to go back a chapter for a refresher, but it's more than worth it. I love this story.

Author's Response: Oh, thank you! I\'m working on the next one, and this year I\'ll try to do more than one chapter.

2014.03.02 - 12:37PM
22: Chapter 21

Our heroes are making all kinds of progress. (Including you.) 8)

Author's Response: Thank you so very much! I\'m working hard to get myself past the psychological blockade of not working on The Next Chapter.

2014.02.24 - 01:04AM
22: Chapter 21

You have no idea how excited I am to see these! I had practically given up, and just mentally decided there was a happy ending. This is better than what I'd hoped for by a long shot. You drew images directly into my mind while they dreamed. You are seriously amazing! Please keep up the good work!

Author's Response: I\'m so glad you have kept up with the story, and I apologize so heartily for the ungodly length of time it\'s taken me to complete the story. It\'s a good thing that I\'m not making my living writing fiction. I will try to do better in posting this year.

20: Chapter 19

Wow! That was a kick in the gut. This story just keeps getting better.

Author's Response: It\'s funny; because I have at least some idea of what\'s happening, I tend not to think of how bad certain sections of plot must look to readers. Then again, I\'m glad I\'m able to ramp up the tension a little bit. Thanks for reading!

2013.03.10 - 08:10PM
20: Chapter 19

There's a writers' rule that says, "Make the situation so bad it can't possibly get any worse. Then make it worse anyway." Yeah, I'm pretty sure you know that one... 8)

Author's Response: Heh. Poor Rose is a victim of an author\'s wish to bring all her characters\' timelines together. You should see my hour-by-hour character-by-character timeline spreadsheet. Sigh.

20: Chapter 19

Thank you for updating!

"I have almost despaired of providing regular updates to this story, but it does not mean the tale is not progressing"

I'm glad you're not abandoning us, and the upside is that as I review the past few chapters each time and thus get to enjoy them all over again.

You do such a wonderful job not only with my 3 loves (well, 4 counting the Tardis), but also with the supporting characters, much as with "Walk out with Me". Thank you!

Author's Response: Your positive attitude toward my miserably updating habits is more impetus for me to change them. And I am so pleased to hear from another fan of my favorite OT3/4; your comments have reminded me that there are folks out there who are waiting for me to keep going. Thank you.
