I love the way John is in many ways quite Doctorish, but in others so human. And I'm glad Penny's decided she does love him after all! Always good to see a chapter of this one. :)
Really, really happy to find another chapter up! This story is so good, and I feel so sorry for John! Any hope that the Doctor will return? How about Rose making an appearance? I DO so love happy endings!
Ooh, wow. Just... wow. I think you pegged Jackie just right, and I'm eagerly awaiting further installments!
Just got clued into this story via the calufrax LJ group (though I remember hearing it mentioned before, I'd never managed to remember the title or author to go looking for it), and read the whole thing in one sitting. Really well done and tremendously engaging. Waiting eagerly for the next installment now! :D
Oh - I want it to work out for them so much!
Uh-oh, is Penny having second thoughts? Poor John; he deserves to have happiness with her. Are you plotting an evil outcome??
Author's Response: Not an evil outcome, no. There might be a scary moment or two along the way, however. Thanks for commenting!
As always, I'm left breathlessly anticipating the next update. :)
Author's Response: Thank you!
I avidly devoured this story when a friend convinced me that a story--a WIP, no less--without The Doctor or Rose could be utterly compelling. I've enjoyed every moment of it and I've wanted to leave comments, but couldn't find a way to do so. When I finally realized that I had to have an account here in order to leave a comment, I joined the site just to do so. I eagerly await the next chapter.
Author's Response: What a wonderful compliment! I\'m so glad you\'re enjoying it!
You can \"favorite\" it, if you like, and get email messages when I update. It\'s one of the advantages of joining.
Thanks for reading, and for commenting!
I've just stumbled across your fic for the first time and I am absolutely overwhelmed by how wonderful it is. John is a human version of Ten. Gah! I squeed all over myself. Can't wait for next installment.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I\'m glad you\'re enjoying it! Thanks for reading, and for commenting!
I'm SOOOO glad I discovered you and this story! John & Penny are both so sensitively portrayed, and I sincerely hope you post again soon!
Author's Response: I should be posting again within a week or so - although the chapter after that may take a while. Thanks for reading, and for commenting!
Yay! An update!
I loved Jackie's characterization here, and getting to hear about the Doctor from her point of view. And John's early life, too. Lovely chapter.
Author's Response: Thank you so much!
I am literally glee'd out over your witty and stylish portrayl of Jackie in her later years. I've said it again and again, but I think this story is absolutely fantastic and eagerly devour every chapter as fast as I can. Like HonorH I also *loved* your conspiracy/Lumic theories. What a brilliant talent you have for creating a universe complete with it's own mythology and rumours!
I like this story because it deviates so far from what the whole "Rose-had-the-Doctor's-kid" story norm is. He and Penny are almost defiantly "boring" and "dull" but it's sweet, really. Because it isn't uninteresting--there's a lot of humour and occasional weirdness, it just doesn't happen to be on the "run-for-your-life" scale.
I had to cringe in sympathy when Penny and John spent that awkward time in the limo, trading tense compliments. And I felt for Penny too, being intimidated by the internet research and the wealth radiating off of John's clothes and the estate.
But the crowning achievement of this chapter had to be Jackie. When the technical terms John and Penny used went over her head and she completely misunderstood what they were talking about, and ploughed on ahead in her own way... so incredibly unpretensious and *her* it was a relief, really. I was a little worried about what time and wealth might have done to make her like her parallel self....
Another excellent chapter. Well done.
I am very not a shipper, and the timebaby thing typically annoys me. However, this was a lovely story. I'm enjoying it greatly and look forward to more.
