| They taught me to write and they gave me a pen. Doctor Who is what I did with it. My first full length Doctor Who story was finished by the time I was 13. It was not fit for publication but was no worse than a certain series of knock-off dragon stories. Nearly twenty years later, Russell T. Davies resurrected my first love. I looked at the screen, and this bloke in a leather coat appeared and I thought, "Hey, he's the Doctor." In my considerably experienced opinion, he was and remains the best Doctor. Ever. I'll let you know everyone else's rankings when I see Tennant's replacement. So I've been writing Doctor Who since the Classic Series was on first run. In this, as in all things, I tend to be a canon diva. However, due to an extreme rash of unsubtle idiocy on the part of various writers and novelists, I will claim no book or radio edition as "canon" EXCEPT "The Eight Doctors". Sometimes, I even have problems with the '96 Movie. Taking recent events into account, however, I have acquired a tendency to write "AU". I try to stick to canon, but canon didn't stick to canon, so I'm getting irritable. Any day now, I may just yell "F**K IT!" and very strange things may happen. I will write an episode of Doctor Who or Torchwood that will be filmed and aired before I die. This is my goal and my affirmation. I will do this. | |
