| A scientist by profession, molecular biologist to be exact, Lorel is often more likely to refer to a line of dialogue from Doctor Who or Buffy the Vampire Slayer than she is to talk about the latest article published in Science magazine. She won her first (and only) award for writing for "Wise the Owl", beating all the other 1st graders in her school district. They wouldn't accept her submission for 5th grade, saying it was "too good" and a parent must have helped. She pretty much gave up on authors' competitions after that. At university, her literature professor tried to get her to change her major. He just couldn't convince her that literature was a great career move, however, so she went on and did a PhD in biology instead. To this day she can sometimes be seen shaking her head and muttering to herself, "What was I thinking?". Nowadays, she spends her days trying to cure cancer but her too short evenings are spent watching her few favorite shows, reading everything about everything, and writing bits and pieces here and there. Maybe one day she'll finally finish up one of the half dozen novels she has piling up on her hard drive. |
