I'm an American, and as a kid in the seventies I watched the Tom Baker episodes on PBS, sometimes getting up at five in the morning to do so. I loved the Doctor (and his scarf) madly, but the show faded away, and the next time I saw him was in the Fox movie (I loved the Eighth Doctor, but thought the movie itself left something to be desired). After that, I didn't think about Doctor Who much until last year, when my daughter made me watch the new series. I began to love the Doctor (even without his scarf!) madly once again. I've also begun filling my iPod with Murray Gold's soundtrack music, as well as the songs of Chameleon Circuit. Doctor Who has begun to permeate my life in quite an alarming way!
My favorite Doctors are 4, 9, and 10. I read lots of different ships, my faves being Nine or Ten/Rose, Ten/Donna, Nine, Ten or Eleven/Jack, and Ten/Sarah Jane stories. So far most of the stories I've written are Ten/Donna, because I enjoy writing humor and friends-becoming-lovers type stories. I'm learning more British expressions with each story, but despite my best efforts I'm sure I'm still writing with an American accent! |
