How Many Time Lords Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb? by SailorPtah [Reviews - 6] Printer Chapter or Story

3.1
--A much more primitive Ahnooie-4 was visited by Spaceman Spiff.
--The Harris Poll in question can be seen here.
--Species in the alien mall include Andalites, whatever race Bannakaffalatta (Voyage of the Damned) was from, and Tetraps.
--Ardala Memorial Food Court is named after a villain from Buck Rogers.
--The statue depicts someone you might recognize.
--Foods include sneg stew, coffee (see the clip "Starbucks Cuts Jobs"), and zaffich.
3.2
--David Letterman is Romana II's companion in Romana 'n Dave, an epic fanfiction crossover posted to rec.arts.drwho in 1990. (That's right, people. Usenet.) Rumor has it that all 44 are still out there somewhere, buried in the basements of middle-aged geeks, preserved but irretrievable on 5.25" floppies. In the meantime, this chapter is loaded with references to the first fourteen.
--Argabuthon is from the Guide.
--Vermicious Knids are courtesy of Roald Dahl.
--The android mummies are from Pyramids of Mars.
3.3
--The drinks at the bar include Vragg, hypervodka, and jynnan tonnyx.
--The bar itself is named for Zapp Brannigan.
--After Jo Grant got engaged, she described her fiancé to the Doctor as "almost like a younger version of you."
--The Master and the Rani have been stuck in the same broken TARDIS since The Mark of the Rani (which is in the Doctor's future).
3.4
--Magrathea at this point in history is the site of the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Dark matter reefs are referred to in Utopia.
--Chinanto/mnigs is the Silvolvian variant of jynnan tonnyx.
--The Master is hearing a consistent and maddening beat by his return in New Who series 3: the titular Sound of Drums.
--We've heard Sweetness before (start around 3:10).
3.5
--Sarah Jane sees this clip. For the full effect, watch the start of the clip right after it as well.
--The Zero Room is ejected from the TARDIS during Castrovalva. It was apparently rebuilt since, possibly during the events of the audio Renaissance of the Daleks.
3.6
--The Blinovitch Limitation Effect does not, in fact, apply at Milliways (which you can visit as many times as you like and be sure of never meeting yourself, because of the embarrassment this usually causes). The Doctor is not about to tell Stephen this.
--The Meddling Monk won't be giving the Ace any trouble.
3.7
--The Master saved the lives of five Doctors at once in the aptly named The Five Doctors.
3.8
--The woman is of course Jenny, with her daughter Susan. Both were born after the Time War, but Jenny, not wanting her daughter to grow up as The Only Child Of Her Species, has broken into the time-lock that separates them from the rest of the Time Lords. The mechanics of this are another fic altogether.
--The reference to stuffed frogs is a sidelong nod to P. G. Wodehouse's Jeeves.
--There are no Vulcans in the Whoniverse, just a move that works similarly to the Vulcan nerve pinch.
--Of course the Master is sweet. This is about Sweetness again.
Doctor Who and its accoutrements are the property of the BBC, and we obviously don't have any right to them. Any and all crossover characters belong to their respective creators. Alas no one makes any money from this site, and it's all done out of love for a cheap-looking sci-fi show. All fics are property of their individual authors. Archival at this site should not be taken to constitute automatic archive rights elsewhere, and authors should be contacted individually to arrange further archiving. Despite occasional claims otherwise, The Blessed St Lalla Ward is not officially recognised by the Catholic Church. Yet.
