Just incredible. Very probably the best Doctor Who fanfic I've ever read so far. It was extrememly well-written, and you captured Nine perfectly. The house-creature was a neat idea, too.

a Talking Heads fan I think. 😄

Loved it! Very well-written. Your characterization of the 9th Doctor is thoroughly believable. Kudos and thank you!

Author's Response: Thank you very much. Thanks for reading!

Ah, so you wrote this... I'd read it not too long ago and found it to be thought-provoking, moving and very much in line with Eccleston's Doctor. I'm glad to have found it again!

I've been reading some of your other stories tonight and have to say your characterizations are spot on. The fics I've read so far were fascinating and such fun!

I reviewed this on lost luggage, also...
It captures everything about Nine that I find so compelling; the darkness, the need, the defiance, but always, always the caring. You capture his voice so beautifully that it makes me hesitate to even try to. Standards to live up to! And I adore the "Drank your death" line, and the subsequent vomiting. He's so powerful and yet so vulnerable at the same time. Also, beautiful setup, beautiful descriptions of unbeautiful places.

This was recced on Calufrax.

Wow. That was compelling. And very much the angry post-War, pre-Rose Nine. No matter the pain, he's still a Doctor.

Brilliant...well written, good characterisation...I think you've captured the Pre-"Rose" Doctor brilliantly. It's very realistic, something found very rare in other fiction but through all that dark mood and the slightly depressing subject matter you injected a touch of optimism in the end. No matter how hard you life is - you must never give it up. At least that's how I've interpreted it. Also nice little bit of info about the Doctor's biology and I really liked your original character. She's very three-dimensional so that's commendable as well. Anyway, I loved this story and I hope you'll write more. Well done and keep up with the excellent work! This one goes to my favorites;-)

Author's Response: Thanks so much!

Dark and very powerful piece of writing. I loved this Pre Rose Nine! Suffering from PDT and his own demons haunting him – yes, I can see him angry with a foul mouth, wanting to put wrongs to right.

The scene with him throwing up (Barf) . caught me by surprise but the imagery was brilliantly written and the reaction of “Not Emma” was so spot on.

Looking forward to more from you!

Author's Response: I should really stop and work on my own stuff, but the Doctor is so compelling. thanks for reading.

I think I've just decided that I'm a big fan of yours. Your stories have a sense of reality both in plot and character that are rare. Great character writing, seems accurate.
Please expand the story?

Author's Response: there\'s a second part coming up. Just the two parts.

Author's Response: and also thanks!

Excellent. I love how he drinks the steering fluid. Ugly, and simultaneously very Doctorish. And I'm completely with you on the swearing. 9 seems like he'd swear a blue streak under certain circumstances.

There's an odd undercurrent to the anger. I can't figure if he's so pissed because she's dragging him back into being her rescuer, or because she's trying something he won't let himself. Or many both.

Eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Author's Response: I\'m pretty sure it\'s a little of both. Or at least how it feels to me in the writing. And thanks

This is a great story. There needs to be more Pre-'Rose' work out there. I love how well you used an original character to give a nice 'slice of life' insight into the Doctor. Oh, and the power steering fluid is pretty creative. Wonderful job.

Author's Response: thank you!

There is not nearly enough psycho-post-Time-War-pre-Rose stuff out there, and this is absolutely brilliant. I can hardly wait for the continuation!

Author's Response: thank you. Not too dark then:-)

I can see Nine being all about the 'tough love'. Drinking power steering fluid though--yup, psycho. Great fic.

Author's Response: thankee ma\'am!

Scary. Scaryscaryscary. Surely this isn't *all?* I'm being bitten hard by the "gotta know what happens next!" bug over here. Partly because I wonder how the Doctor managed to recover enough to consider taking Rose along at the end of the first episode instead of just buggering off immediately.
Post-Traumatic-Stressing Time Lord. Not a pretty thought, is it? Though I can't help but think that somewhere underneath, the Doctor still cares, otherwise why bother to get involved? Of course, there's also the idea of "I just *died* and *burned my own planet and killed my own people* to save fools like you - how *dare* you waste it like this?!"
More soon, please?

Author's Response: The second half is coming. there is a tiny spark of light in the dark, cuz he\'s still the Doctor.
